GM to churn out Opels and Chevrolets in Krasnodar?
US car manufacturer General Motors is considering construction of a car assembly factory to produce Opel- and Chevrolet-branded vehicles in the Dinsky district of the Krasnodar Region, regional authorities report.
The district administration’s Vyacheslav Ivanov says the local authorities have offered GM three sites to choose from for prospective construction and are willing to provide all necessary transport and engineering infrastructure.
Construction is expected to take five years and will be implemented in three stages. A total amount of investment has not been revealed.
If carried out, the project will create 500 new jobs and secure $12.7m worth of tax revenue a year.
